This year, the WonderBra brand would like to celebrate its 70th anniversary with you. It’s a major milestone that marks 70 years of innovation, quality and, above all, pride in its consumers, clients, employees and products.
In 1939, some wonderful things were happening in North America. Gone with the Wind was released; nylon stockings went on sale for the first time and last but not least: the WonderBra brand was born.
A success story
In the mid-1940s, the WonderBra brand launched the lovely Winkie bra that women could buy with or without straps. It was the first strapless bra to be sold in Canada. In 1963, women indulged in our fabulous “Dream Lift” half-cup push-up model. We were also the first to launch a push-up bra in Canada. In addition to being functional, this low-cut model became a must-have fashion accessory.
In the meantime, our consumers were discovering an increasing variety of WonderBra styles, including Dici, the first seamless undergarment to mould to the figure. Dici made 1974 a landmark year for us.
And then, in 1996, the renowned “Dream Lift” bra became legendary when it was entered in the Guinness Book of World Records after more than 1.6 million Dream Lift bras had been sold worldwide. Hundreds of thousands of women enjoyed this seductive, uplifting bra—the first push-up ever. Talk about a success story!
70 years of beauty
To commemorate 70 years of making Canadian women feel comfortable and feel beautiful, the WonderBra brand is offering two Anniversary Edition bras for $19.39 each. Proof that unbeatable prices are not gone with the wind!
Now that you know something about our history, maybe you would like to share a WonderBra story of your own with us? We would love to hear from you!

In the 1960s I worked in Montreal and had a department of 80 girls. Most wore wonderbra dreamlift. You could tell by the distinct back strap and the outline it showed. It was a beautiful bra, both styles. Please start manufacturing them again. They were lovely to mens eyes.
Thank you for taking the time to share your special insight of the WonderBra Brand.
Read today’s article in the gazette. I remember when the Dici bra and Dream Lift were introduced. My mother has many stories and memories that you may find interesting. My father David Nadler died 6 years ago. He was CEO of Wonderbra and then a group vice president for Consolidated Foods – Sara Lee. It seems like just yesterday that as a young preteen, Wonderbra developed a training bra since I could not fit into what was available at the time and desperately wanted to be like my other more physically mature girlfriends. I would have loved for my mom to be at the celebration you held at Galerie Le Royer. Maybe, god willing for the 75th!
Thank you for the message Madam Nadler Engels!
Undoubtedly, your father’s contribution to the fashion and lingerie world is remarkable – he was a true visionary, always in tune with the needs of women. It’s fascinating to look back at the evolution of the WonderBra brand and to see how it paralleled social changes. And what an amazing success story for a venture that it started 70 years ago with a revolutionary idea and 3 sewing machines!
Hello,

I am an old mother (over 50) and I lived in Dici Bras when I was young. I now have a 12 year old daughter who is just starting to wear bras. She’s a total tomboy and doesn’t care much for them. If only Dici was still available… sigh. I am searching furiously for something similar. Why won’t Wonderbra just bring out a similar model?… really simple… really light… no wires… etc. I’m even seriously considering bringing my sewing machine out and trying to make them myself. Make my life easier and I would gladly pay Wonderbra to do it for me.
Think about it!
Hello Kelly,
we’re happy to know you have such good memories of Dici bras. Actually, we do not plan to bring back Dici bras on the market but we can assure you that your comments will be forwarded to our Marketing and Merchandising departments. Stay informed !
