Toronto’s boom 97-3 is proud to partner with WonderBra in support of its Bras for the Cause bra drive benefiting the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. The bra drive kicks off on Friday October 1st, coinciding with the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Listeners of boom 97-3 will be asked to donate gently used bras at drop off locations in Bay retail stores across the Greater Toronto Area, with WonderBra contributing $1 for every bra collected.
“At WonderBra, we have an ongoing commitment to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research. We are proud to partner with boom 97.3 and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and support women in our community,” says Tina Yanbestian, Marketing Manager, WonderBra Canada
“The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation is honoured to be the beneficiary of a new initiative with a longstanding friend,” says Jane Knox, Associate Director, National Corporate Programs, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. “WonderBra has been a loyal supporter of the Foundation since 1999 and we are thrilled that the Bras for the Cause campaign with boom 97.3 will not only raise funds for the Foundation, but through the month of October add awareness of a disease that affects 1 in 9 Canadian women. We are proud that together we are supporting the Foundation’s vision of creating a future without breast cancer.”
15 Bay stores in the greater Toronto area are participating in the event with collection points for the duration of the bra drive. During store hours, listeners will be able to donate their gently used bras at any of the following Bay stores: Eglinton Square, Square 1 Mississauga, 44 Bloor Street, Woodbine Plaza, Erin Mills Towne Centre, Oakville Place, Sherway Gardens, Yorkdale Plaza and 176 Yonge Street, Centerpoint Mall, Bramalea City Centre, Upper Canada Mall and Markville Shopping Centre. Drop off bins will be placed in the department stores for customers to make their bra donation.
On October 9th, boom 97-3 will be on-site at the Metro Toronto Zoo with its street team with a drop box ready to accept bra donations, and a week later on October 16th at Whittamores Farm in Markham.
Following the great success of the annual program launched in Montreal in 2008 with Astral’s RockDétente, the bra drive has raised more than $230,000. Now in its first year in Toronto, the fundraiser is supported by Astral Out-of-Home who will dedicate transit shelter media space to the cause, as well as a transit shelter at the corner of College and McCaul Street in Toronto which will be filled with bras.
ON-AIR, ON-SITE and ON-LINE, boom 97.3 proudly supports Bras for the Cause.
